My Top 5ive for April

>> Thursday, April 24, 2008

So, I figured that towards the end of each month I would post up my favourite top five things from the previous month. It could be music, TV shows & movies, camera gear, gadgets, or whatever. So for April here we go.

1. The Niagara IceDogs http://www.niagaraicedogs.net/
WOW, what a great run these guys had, too bad it didn't last longer. If you want to see some really, and I mean really good hockey, grab a ticket.
2. Radio Poppers http://radiopopper.com/products/view/radiopopper_p1
These things are gonna revolutionize photography. Unfortunately they are not available in Canada as of yet, but hey my parents live in the states so hopefully we'll see some soon.
3. Spiral Beach http://www.spiralbeach.com/
I am really digging these guys. They have some pretty cool tunes on their disc, but check out track 2 "made of stone" and make sure you check out the video for it to.
4. Blu Domain http://www.bludomain.com/
What can I say, they made me look really really good.
5. TriCoast Photography http://www.tricoastphoto.com/
These guys are good, and when I say good, I mean good. Check out there galleries to see some amazing work from these South Texas lads.

Keep your eyes peeled on my blog for some cool upcoming posts. I have a Trash The Dress shoot next week, sweet location + sweet brides = cool images. Wedding season is also right around the corner, so if you are looking for some family or maternity portraits, get in touch before I get to swamped, '08 is really busy. Also I just found out that I will be covering a wedding that will be featured on Rich Bride, Poor Bride http://www.slice.ca/Shows/ShowsPage.aspx?Title_ID=98222 should be a fun day. It's not until Sept. 27th, but I will post images once the big day is over. Till next week, stay safe, have fun, & enjoy the weather.

Cheers, Rich

Niagara IceDogs

>> Tuesday, April 15, 2008

Well, the inaugural 07/08 Niagara IceDogs season has now come to a close. The boys made it to game 6 against Oshawa but just couldn't handle the offensive powerhouse. It was an absolutely amazing 221 days spent with the team. I made many new friends over the last season, and look forward to seeing them all next year. This is truly the best sporting event around, hands down. Here are just a few shots from the last game of the season, till next year.
Do we have great fans or what!
The last goal scored in the 07/08 season
The boys celebrating
Again, we have amazing fans!
It just wasn;t in our cards this afternoon.
Things got a little out of control once the Gen's had the lead.
Again with the fans, letting the ref know their dis-approval
A final farewell for the 07/08 season.

Randy Pausch

>> Friday, April 11, 2008

OK, so again with the inspirational stuff. On Wednesday, my wife Amy, sister Shannon & myself watched Diane Sawyer do a show about Randy Pausch and his "Last Lecture". All I can say is by the end of the show, all three of us had tears in our eyes and a new outlook on life. Randy is such an amazing man, with a fantastic personality. I honestly wish I could have a quarter of the positive outlook on life he has. I will not dive in to any details, as I would rather you watch the trailer and show itself. So take some time out of your day and see what this man see's, it will amaze you.

To view his whole speech visit this link

The end of the speech is what truly got me. This guy spent an hour doing a speech, not just for the people in attendance, but to leave something for his three children that they will have for the rest of the life. Did you figure out the head fake? It's not a visual thing for his kids to remember him buy, but rather a lesson in life for them they can watch and learn from.
Here is the link to Randy's site

I am not much of a book reader, but again this is one I just may pick up.

To Randy Pausch, all the best in your future journeys.

Fallsview Casino for some fun

>> Thursday, April 10, 2008

So what to do when the Casino sends you a check for free money, well you go of course. We decided to head to Fallsview last night, grab some grub, get some $$$, and of course take some pic's. We ate at "The Famous", man this place is such a great little diner, and they serve breakfast all day. We also made a few stops along the way, including Turtle Pond Toys & Swiss Fudge.

The Famous

mmmmmmmmmmm! PB&J

Cheers, Rick
