>> Wednesday, September 9, 2009

The Niagara IceDogs unveiled there new Reebok jerseys yesterday at the Jack. Instead of doing the boring old photo's most people do, I decided to go back 3 months and try shooting the set up I used for the draft picks. Here are the shots & set up from the day.

Shoooting ~ A few things this past weekend

>> Sunday, May 3, 2009

Well, this weekend was beyond busy, both work & personally. I had to cover the 2009 OHL Priority Selection (Draft) for the Niagara IceDogs, OHL, HHOF & St. Catahrines Standard. I also had a trip to Barrie for my Grandparents 65th anniversary and fired of a few candid photo's, as well as a few portraits I was spontaneously roped into. A few other shoots as well, but they are on the hush hush until further notice. Anyways, here are a few for the Blog, mainly so the family in Barrie can see.

Hockey ~ Memorial Arena, The end of an Era

>> Monday, March 2, 2009

On Sunday March 1st, the Niagara IceDogs defeated the Ottawa 67's in what is to be the Last Major Junior hockey game played at the Niagara Falls Memorial Arena. It was built in 1950 and will be torn down as a new arena will be built on the other side of the city. Both the OHL's Niagara Falls Flyer's & Thunder played out of this arena with many players going on to have great career's in the NHL. Below are a few of my favourite images from the game, with a cool time lapse video at the end.

Below is a short little Time Lapse video we did as well. Click on the HD (hi-def) link to view it at it's best.

Hockey ~ Some Recent Action in Black & White

>> Tuesday, February 24, 2009

OK, we see images in black and white in the papers all the time, but rarely do people process them this way. I had done this about three years ago when working for the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL, but wanted to do a few more from this season. I had a few extra minutes to fool around the other day so I decided to do some, enjoy

This last one kills me, I was in the trainers room right after one of
our players got caught with a high stick. He ended up with a bloody nose,
broken chicklet & a hole through his lower lip.....ouch

5D MKII Test ~ high ISO

>> Sunday, December 14, 2008

OK, so I decided to put the 5D MKII through the ringer with a nice "first shoot" test. What better way to do this than by putting her into the net, that's right, into the netcam it went. I did one quick photo to show you that has had some post processing done to it, so here ya go. Overall I was impressed with the iso sensitivity, this shot was at iso6400 f5.6 1/500th in a dimly lit hockey arena. The noise needed a little tuning in Noise Ninja, but the original file is definately "paper" usable. Stay tuned, more to come in the next few days.

Cheers, Rick
